History
CETI started in 1980 with the objective of coaching and mentoring deserving students for admission to government medical and engineering colleges. In this first phase, that continued till 1990, CETI guided more than 1000 students, with notable success in the medical stream. Our students achieved the top two ranks in the AP state medical entrance examination in 1981 and 45 of our students gained MBBS admission in government medical colleges in 1983. After the proliferation of private colleges, CETI shifted its focus towards mentoring students at the undergraduate level. We conducted several workshops on personality development, career guidance, and various soft skills, including public speaking, interviewing, and time management, to help students in selecting graduate programs or securing jobs.
After 1990, our activities widened towards post-graduate courses like MBA, MCA and MCJ, competitive exams for government jobs like AEEs, SIs, constables, teachers, bank services etc., and Civil Services entrance exams. One special “Train the trainers” program focused on enhancing the teaching skills of elementary, middle, and high school teachers and exposed them to best practices. All our programs were free of charge and conducted for meritorious individuals selected through careful screening.
The idea of CETI was the brainchild of Syed Basharat Ali, Humayun Pasha, and M. A. Wasay under the guidance of Mr. S.A. Wali Quadri, Mr. Basheeruddin Babukhan, and Mr. Amjad Ali Khan (IAS), with academic counseling from Mr. Ainul Hussain and Dr. M. N. Afzal, Professors of Osmania University. During this journey, several academics including Dr. S. M. Asadullah, Mr. A. M. Waheedullah, Mr. Abdus Salam, Mr. Akber, and volunteers (mostly alumni), including Md. Ziauddin, Dr. Syed Mahmood, Nooruddin Saleem, Asim Ansari, Dr. Mateenuddin Saleem, Dr. Humayun Lodhi, Dr. Afshan Anjum, Mohammad Tajuddin and Naseem Ahmed (IRS) and several others contributed to the activities. Many of CETI’s alumni hold high ranking positions in India and aboard and continue to contribute to the society in myriad ways.
